Tips for winter skin care

With winter weather fast approaching, you're probably starting to break out warm clothing to fight the cold temperatures. And just as you must adjust your wardrobe, it is essential to change your skin-care routine as well. Here are five easy ways for you to protect your skin from the harsh winter:

1. Continue to wear sunscreen.
Even though the sun might not feel as hot with the cooler winter temperatures, it is still emitting harmful ultraviolet rays. That said, it's important you keep wearing sunscreen throughout the winter months. Doing so will help you avoid sun burns, dark spots and even skin cancer.

2. Switch your facial moisturizer.
The frigid air can lead to dry skin, and although the lightweight moisturizer you have is great for summer and even fall months, winter requires you find one that's a little heavier. Rich, oil-based facial moisturizers are great for re-hydrating your skin. If you want to moisturize your face and protect it from UV rays (see tip No. 1) in the same step, find a lotion that contains SPF. 3. Find a hydrating body wash.
