Cosmetic procedures are on the rise

If you've been thinking about undergoing a cosmetic procedure, you aren't alone. According to a new report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, cosmetic procedures are on the rise. While these treatments have become more prevalent over the past two decades, growing by 115 percent since 2000, this past year has seen both a remarkable overall increase (by 2 percent since 2014) as well as more demand for certain procedures – a detail that surprised the members of the ASPS.
The study reported that the five most popular cosmetic treatments in 2015 were breast augmentation, liposuction, nose reshaping, eyelid surgery and tummy tucks. While most of these procedures have always led these types of lists, some details have shifted in new directions, reflecting the ways these treatments have evolved.
"While more traditional facial procedures and breast augmentations are still among the most popular, we're seeing much more diversity in the areas of the body patients are choosing to address," Dr. David H. Song, ASPS president, said in a press release. "Patients have more options than ever, and working closely with their surgeon, they're able to focus on specific target areas of the body to achieve the look they desire."
The ASPS also found that, for the first time, men accounted for more than 40 percent of breast reduction surgeries, with a total of 27,456 procedures. This is a 5 percent boost from last year and a 35 percent rise since 2000.
Minimally invasive procedures were also considered part of the surge, topped by Botox, soft tissue fillers, chemical peels, laser hair removal and microdermabrasion. We offer some of these popular treatments at Skin & Cosmetic Solutions. Here is some more information about these procedures and why so many people are choosing them:
With its recognizable name and effective results, Botox has often been a leading cosmetic procedure. After Botox injections, patients begin seeing the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles within a few days. With the release of acetylcholine, the skin is able to smooth out, and the amazing results can last up to four months. Click here to find out more.
Exfoliating peels are a great way to achieve younger, healthier skin in an uncomplicated procedure. By removing a layer of dead skin, patients get a fresh complexion that is clear, renewed and hydrated. We offer a range of peels that serve different needs and produce different results. Laser hair removal
Regardless of age or gender, unwanted hair can affect anyone. That's why so many people have turned to laser removal to correct the problem. At Skin & Cosmetic Solutions, we used the GentleMax Pro laser, which is appropriate to treat hair on all skin tones. This laser is able to specifically target hair follicles, leaving the surrounding area of skin unaffected. Patients typically repeat the treatment six to eight times for optimal results, since hair grows in three cycles. Visit this page for more information.
Like an exfoliating peel, microdermabrasion works to remove dead skin cells to reveal a healthier, rejuvenated surface. However, it accomplishes this by exfoliating the skin by projecting clean micro-crystals then clearing the skin of the crystal particles and dead cells. This treatment can help with fine lines, hyperpigmentation, acne and superficial scars. For more details, click here.
