Dermal fillers, as their name implies, “fill” wrinkles and areas with volume loss (such as the cheeks) from beneath. They are injected and they instantly add volume to the area, pushing back up the depressed skin. Juvederm and Restylane are hyaluronic acid fillers, which use hyaluronic acid to bind with water molecules, naturally hydrating and plumping the skin. These treatments are great for rosacea, photo damage, sun damage, pigmentation problems, and for improving skin texture and tone. When the IPL is delivered onto the treatment skin, it feels like a small rubber band is being snapped against the skin, but there isn’t any recovery time. When the light penetrates the epidermis and enters the dermis layer of the skin, the melanin in age spots absorbs the energy and breaks down the melanin. The IPL energy also closes broken capillaries on the face and reduces areas of redness.
