DIY food ways to get smooth feet this summer in Raleigh, NC

When you can't bear to leave your house – and the A/C! – for a spa day this summer, you can try a DIY version of your favorite facial or massage by raiding your kitchen. There are plenty of foods that, when part of a balanced diet, can help your skin stay smooth and glowing. But what about a topical spa treatment for cracked, dry or sunburned feet? We've got you covered! Check out the spa ingredients that you can use to help you relaaaax this summer.

Olive oil and brown sugar
EVOO already has a glowing reputation for helping you get silky smooth hair. But did you know that it can also hydrate your feet? Olive oil can be a wonderful moisturizer that leaves your sunburnt skin feeling soothed. When paired with brown sugar, you can exfoliate your heels for getting rid of dead skin that leaves your feet super-touchable. Start with 1/2 cup of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Mix the two together and use as needed.

Coconut oil and roses
Before you slip into bed, slather your feet in an all-natural moisturizer and then snuggle your feet into adorable socks. Coconut oil is an ideal choice. Greatist noted that it can nourish your nail beds – perfect prep before your next pedicure! You can try  a DIY version made with coconut oil with rosewater to boost hydration while also leaving you smelling lovely.

Epsom salt
Okay, we admit Epsom salt is more likely to be in your bathroom than in your kitchen – but we still love magnesium sulfate. Suggested by Reader's Digest, add 1/2 cup of Epsom salt to your next bath – your skin will absorb it and improve circulation and minimize swelling that comes from being on your feet all day.

Avocado and egg
This fruit continues to have an endless number of uses. When your feet have too much sun exposure, they can start to wrinkle and develop age spots. Fight the look of wrinkles with an avocado foot mask. Express UK suggested mashing half of an avocado together with an egg for a blend of protein and hydrating ingredients. The combo goes on like a facial mask, but for your feet. Let it sit for twenty minutes until it dries, then rinse it off for smoother, tighter skin. This remedy is best for the tops of your feet, not the heels.
