Plasma Facial

When we age, our skin’s ability to produce collagen and maintain hydration becomes markedly diminished. Coupled with sun exposure and damaging lifestyle choices, our skin takes on further abuse. Non-invasive treatments like Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy have risen in popularity due to its natural result and minimal downtime.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Skin Rejuvenation therapy, (PRP) is a treatment that reverses signs of skin aging in areas like the face, neck and décolletage. PRP offers a unique advantage over other anti-aging treatments because of its natural properties. No other treatment utilizes the patient’s own blood as a way to rejuvenate targeted regions of the body. This process makes PRP completely hypoallergenic.

The process for Microneedling is carried out with the STRATAPEN™, an automated pen that is made up of multiple miniature needles. The needles pierce the upper layers of the skin causing pinpoint injury, having two major benefits: successfully stimulating collagen formation and providing a clear topical channel for creams and gels to be absorbed effectively through the top most layer of skin. Microneedling creates only minor trauma, which lasts for a short period of time and does not result in bruising or swelling in the treated area. For the PRP Facial, your own Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is combined with the treatment, which is layered and massaged into the treatment area.

IS THE PRP FACIAL RIGHT FOR ME?

The Plasma Facial is a treatment that incorporates your own platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and Microneedling. This facial stimulates collagen production and improves fine lines and winkles, hyperpigmentation, sun damage and scars. Microneedling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new skin rejuvenation treatment.

The PRP Facial may be the ideal treatment option for you, if you want to:

  • Improve fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improve the appearance of acne and acne scarring
  • Improve the appearance of pigmentation and sun damage
  • Even skin tone
  • Reduce pore size and tighten the skin
  • Stimulate collagen formation
  • Rejuvenate your face with very minimal down time

The Platelet Rich Plasma Procedure:

  1. Collect Blood from Patient
About 2 vials of blood are drawn from the patient’s arm.

  1. Separate the Platelets
A centrifuge is then used to separate plasma and platelets from the red blood cells.

  1. Extract Platelet Rich Plasma
Extract 3-6 ml of Platelet Rich Plasma.

  1. Numbing
The patient’s face is numbed with a topical medication cream for 30 minutes to reduce pain from needling.

  1. Application
After the numbing medication is applied and left for about 30 minutes, we begin the process of spreading the Platelet Rich Plasma onto the patient’s face. The  STRATAPEN™ is used to push the PRP into the skin and glides freely and easily over the tissue.
  1. Apply PRP with STRATAPEN™ treatment
PRP is applied to the patient’s face using the STRATAPEN™ which pushes the PRP into the Dermal.

Benefits of the Platelet Rich Plasma Facial

  • Many patients’ report that their face looked refreshed and their fine lines/wrinkles diminished.
  • Younger looking color to your skin because of the new blood vessel formation.
  • The outer most layer of your skin or “epidermis” will appear smoother.
  • The procedure stimulates new collagen production over time in the “dermis”. This will lift the face to a more youthful, firmer shape.
  • Quick procedure lasting an hour to 90 minutes.

How is the healing and recovery?

The STRATAPEN™ is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure and recovery time is minimal. You will not have any scars because we do not make any incisions; we only use needles. Also, since the substance used in the procedure derives from the patient’s own blood, there is very little risk of allergic reaction or abnormal response. The patient can return home right after the procedure. You may experience redness, which should go away after a few hours.

 Potential Side Effects

Potential side effects can be temporary bruising, (which can be caused by the reaction of the patient’s skin to the injections); mild swelling or edema; and skin irritation or itching depending on the sensitivity of the patient’s skin. These should all resolve within a few days.
