Pigmented Lesions & Vascular Birthmarks

We’re all born with birthmarks (benign pigmented lesions), even if we only have a few freckles. But some of us are born with more prominent pigmented lesions, such as café-au-lait spots, which can be cosmetically troublesome if located on the face, neck, or another visible area. Age spots (solar lentigines), caused by excessive exposure to the sun, are also cosmetically inconvenient. And some women may acquire melasma—unwanted pigmented lesions—from hormonal changes caused by pregnancy or birth control pills.

Skin and Cosmetic Solutions exclusively uses the VersaPulse® Advantage, a state of the art system that produces short pulses of a wide spectrum of light colors to treat a full range of pigmented lesions. This technology virtually erases pigmented lesions without any incisions.

Removing age or hormonal spots may take only one or two 30-minute laser treatments, while café-au-lait spots and vascular birthmarks often take additional sessions. All sessions are typically spaced six to eight weeks apart and take place in Dr. Puente’s office without the costs and risks of hospitalization or general anesthesia.

Treatment may feel like numerous rubber bands snapping onto your skin, so topical or local anesthesia is offered to help numb the area. The treated area’s appearance following a laser session varies from patient to patient. Immediate after-effects may include redness, light crusting or tenderness, all of which disappear in a short time.
