JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel is a colorless hyaluronic acid injected into facial tissue to smooth wrinkles and folds, especially around the nose and mouth. Hyaluronic acid’s role is to deliver nutrients to the skin, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and act as a cushioning agent. JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel adds volume to facial tissue and restores a smoother appearance to the face for up to one year.
Dr. Puente often uses a topical numbing cream while administering JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel since patients may experience some mild discomfort at the injection site. Most patients require one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing, and results last up to a year. Touch-up and repeated injections maintain optimal correction.
Most side effects are mild to moderate in nature and last seven days or less. They include, but are not limited to, temporary redness, tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps, bumps, bruising, itching or discoloration at the injection site. During your initial consultation Dr. Puente will discuss treatment considerations with you in order to prevent unsatisfactory results and complications.
